North Shore Country Day School
|The John Almquist Gallery is a professional exhibition space on campus. Three shows are curated per year feature the work of regional professional artists. The gallery is a unique teaching tools that enhances our JK-12 visual art curriculum and strives to share a diverse selection of art forms. As a cultural force, the John Almquist Gallery broadens an individual's understanding of art and is an invitation to heighten students' global perspective.|
|Exquisite Corpse: A Surprise Collaboration|
The Almquist Gallery presents "Exquisite Corpse," a collaborative game that traces its roots to the 20th century Parisian Surrealist Movement.
February 1, 2016 -- The Almquist Gallery presents Process 4. This exhibit offers a glimpse into the studio processes of North Shore's visual art faculty. The exhibit illuminates the intersection of their individual art making and teaching roles.
|Threads of Resistance : Chilean Arpilleras|
October 2, 2015 - The Almquist Gallery presents, "Threads of Resistance : Chilean Arpilleras," Marjorie Agosin's arpillera collection. Marjorie is a Chilean-born American poet, writer, human rights activist and professor at Wellesley College.

March 13, 2015 -- The Almquist Gallery presents "We Are Stars," curated by Lower School Art Teacher Montserrat Alsina, highlights works by artists of Esperanza Community Services.

January 16, 2015 -- The Almquist Gallery presents "Art and the Prison State," highlighting local artists' responses and expressions of many pertinent questions surrounding our nation's prison-industrial complex.
October 10, 2014 -- The Almquist Gallery presents "Community Creatives," a celebration of imaginative objects crafted by North Shore Country Day School faculty & staff.
March 14, 2014 -- The Almquist Gallery presents the art exhibit opening "Reclaimed Realities" featuring works by Marci Rubin and Betsy van Die.
January 17, 2014 -- The Almquist Gallery hosted the art exhibit opening "Spatial Intimacy" by Chicago artists Veronica Bruce and Madison Zalopany.
October 4, 2013 -- The Almquist Gallery hosted the art exhibit opening "Little Mirrors: Collages and visual narratives" featuring works of Julie Nauman-Mikulski.

April 26, 2013 -- The Almquist Gallery hosted the art exhibit opening "SIGNED, SEALED, DELIVERED: Student Mail Art @60093," featuring the work of Middle and Upper Students.
January 18, 2013 -- The Almquist Gallery hosted the art exhibit opening "Inward Out," featuring the work of Linda Robinson Gordon and Keith Sklar.
|DanO: A Retrospective|
September 14, 2012 -- The Almquist Gallery hosted the art exhibit opening "DanO: A Retrospective of Illustration."
March 16, 2012 -- Calling all artists! Enter by February 24 to be a part of the Art Ajar exhibit to benefit the Northfield Food Pantry.
|Chicago Types . . .|
January 13, 2012 -- The Almquist Gallery will host the art exhibit opening "Chicago Types: Modern, Traditional and Avant-Garde Typographic Design from The City That Works."
December 8, 2011 -- Creators purchased clockwork kits for $10 and were given one month to make a clock structure using found objects or original art. Gallery visitors bid on their favorite clocks through a silent auction. More than $1,700 was raised which will be used to purchase art supplies for our partner schools in Oaxaca, Mexico and Moshi, Tanzania.

April 8, 2011 -- The Almquist Gallery will host an art opening for "People and Places" by Sandra Holubow and Judith Roth. The show will run through May 20.

January 11, 2011 -- The Almquist Gallery will host an art opening for “Our Neighbors-Ourselves/Ourselves-Our Neighbors” by Bert Menco and Michelle Stone. The show will run through February 25.

October 1, 2010 -- The gallery opening for the exhibit "Shared Visions: Collaborative Work of the Chicago Art Salon" will be held Friday in the Almquist Gallery. The exhibit features the work of Atkas, Blietz, Coulson, Honey, Lloyd, Potocki and Sindler.

|Almquist Gallery Exhibit: "Mining Diamonds"|
January 9, 2007 -- "Mining Diamonds" will open Friday in the North Shore Country Day School Almquist Gallery. The exhibit will display paintings done by artists Barbara Fitzpatrick, Mark Krisco and Levi Smith.
