Head's Welcome

Welcome to North Shore Country Day,
Since we opened our doors in 1919, North Shore Country Day School has been committed to answering a fundamental question: “What matters most when educating a child?” Continually refining our answer to that question has helped us to grow and evolve with purpose and passion.
By carefully tending a dynamic balance of purposeful challenge, intentional design, courageous exploration and conscientious community, we have built a school program and culture that teaches and inspires both students and adults.
Students at North Shore learn and grow together as they explore a challenging curriculum taught by exceptional teachers in an environment that encourages collaboration and creative thinking. For 100 years, we have considered participation in service, the arts and athletics to be integral elements of our academic program, believing they deepen students understanding of themselves, each other and the world around them. We celebrate our diverse community and the gifts each of our students bring to our shared experience. North Shore students emerge prepared intellectually and socially to thrive in college and lead “lives marked by integrity, kindness, respect and fulfillment.”

My family and I are so happy to be part of the North Shore community. I hope you’ll come to visit, to see what our vibrant learning community looks like today, a century after our founding. I think you’ll like what you see.

North Shore Country Day School is a junior kindergarten through 12th grade, college-preparatory school founded in Winnetka, Illinois in 1919.  With rigorous academic pursuit as the cornerstone, North Shore provides many opportunities for all students to excel – in the classroom and the laboratory, on the stage and the playing field, in their communities and beyond.
