Before- and after-school programs provide opportunities for all students to nurture, enhance, expand, and enrich their minds and bodies in a safe, fun environment outside of the traditional classroom setting.
A range of programs will be available for JK through fifth grade families. Quiet time is available for 30 minutes Monday–Thursday. Students will be given the opportunity to do homework, read books, or participate in other quiet activities. Students may choose to continue those activities beyond the 30-minute mark, but it might not be a quiet environment.
Early Raiders
The morning-care program begins at 7:20 a.m. Staff set your child up for success during the school day by offering a consistent morning routine with opportunities for calming activities, free play, and even whole group activities designed to encourage students to collaborate. While breakfast is not served in Early Raiders, your child may bring something to eat.
Later Raiders
The afternoon program is offered 2:50-5:30 p.m., August through June, when school is in session for students in grades JK-5. The program provides an opportunity for children to choose between physical play and quiet activities, such as reading or homework, and allows for relaxation and winding down from the busy schedule of the day.
Later Raiders Enrichment Classes
Enrichment classes are in conjunction with our after-school program. There are a variety of classes throughout the year, for both younger and older students, that are distinctive, engaging, educational and fun. Classes take place from 3–4 p.m. after the end of the school day and are taught by NSCD faculty and outside educators. Some recent offerings have included:
Friday Pop Up Classes
Oftentimes it is difficult to commit to coming weekly on a Friday afternoon to an enrichment, so we now offer one-time classes on Fridays between 3–5:30 pm. Some recent offerings have included:
