Middle School and Upper School Application Process (6th-12th Grade)
For Middle School and Upper School, North Shore offers two ways to submit an application and supporting materials to the school. Please review the information and select the system that makes the most sense for your child of family. An application fee of $75 is required for either process with application fee waivers available by request.
The Standard Application Online is a common application form accepted by many schools in the area. For those planning to apply to multiple schools or plan to sit for the SSAT, this is the preferred application.
For families only applying to North Shore, our "in-house" application may be a more suitable option. Submission of the Inquiry Form provides basic information to set up your account. If you have already received this information then proceed to the application.
Regardless of which application you choose, the components of the process include:
Student Essays
Parent Statement
Current English, Math and Principal Recommendations
Transcript/Student Grade Reports
Interview (required) - The student interview is a conversation with an admission representative to learn more about them as a young person and provide for a 1-on-1 interaction with the candidate. No preparation is necessary, but students are encouraged to ask questions so they can learn more about North Shore Country Day.
Standardized Testing (required) - Students applying to grades 6-12 are asked to submit ISEE, SSAT, PSAT, SAT, or ACT scores.
North Shore will offer the computer based ISEE exam on select dates this fall for applicants. Please contact Mullery Doar for details to register.
Character Skills Snapshot (optional) - Free for SSAT test takers, the Character Skills Snapshot is an innovative online tool that measures students preferences toward seven character skills. The Snapshot measures a student's preferences, attitudes and beliefs about their character and is meant to complement more traditional cognitive assessments such as the SSAT. The Snapshot highlights areas where schools can help your student grow and thrive. The skills on the Snapshot fall into three areas: skills that are intellectual in nature, skills that are intrapersonal in nature, and skills that are interpersonal in nature.
