North Shore is encouraging the Standard Application Online for our Middle and High School applicants. Here you can manage the entire admission process with one account.
Should families only be applying to North Shore our "in-house" application may be a more suitable option. Submission of the Inquiry Form provides basic information to setup your account. If you have already received this information then proceed to the application.
Regardless of which application you choose the components of the process include:
Student Essays
Parent Statement
Current English, Math and Principal Recommendations*
Transcript/Student Grade Reports
*We recognize that due to remote learning in many schools and districts, recommenders may not have had the student physically in their class. In such circumstances, previous year teachers can be utilized as a supplement to current teachers.
Interview (required) - The student interview is a conversation with an admission representative to learn more about them as a young person and provide for a 1-on-1 interaction with the candidate. No preparation is necessary, but students are encouraged to ask questions so they can learn more about North Shore Country Day.
Standardized Testing (optional) - Given the concerns and limited availability of in-person testing, North Shore has made the decision to go test optional for applicants this year. Families are still encouraged to register and submit ISEE or SSAT testing if they are comfortable, but it will no longer be a required piece of the application process.
Character Skills Snapshot (Highly Encouraged) - Free for SSAT test takers, the Character Skills Snapshot is an innovative online tool that measures students preferences toward seven character skills. The Snapshot measures a student's preferences, attitudes and beliefs about their character and is meant to complement more traditional cognitive assessments such as the SSAT. The Snapshot highlights areas where schools can help your student grow and thrive. The skills on the Snapshot fall into three areas: skills that are intellectual in nature, skills that are intrapersonal in nature and skills that are interpersonal in nature.
Application Deadline: February 1 (All pieces of the application process must be completed by this date in order to receive a March 1 decision. Families applying after the deadline will do so in a rolling admission process based on space availability).
