Alumni Spotlight: Joanne Golden ’74

Joanne recently returned to campus for her 45th reunion. She shared some of her memories, updates on her career and what her NSCDS experience has meant to her.
“My career reminds me of my school days at NSCDS…it’s been a fun, creative place where out-of-the-box thinking has been rewarded. North Shore has given me the confidence to explore and ask questions, to lead a team and to make my voice heard. I loved everything about my North Shore Country Day experience…from 4th to 12th grade.
“For more than 40 years, I’ve been working as a film producer living in NYC. I’ve worked on feature films, made zillions of commercials and have traveled the world producing all kinds of marketing, advertising and entertainment films. For the past two years, I've been working as an Executive Producer with MasterClass, an online-education platform that produces longer format, digital films with notable music performers and composers, chefs, writers, world and political leaders, economic gurus, and the like. It’s an amazing group of people that I work alongside every day. Reminds me of my theater days at NSCDS…
“I also had the privilege of raising my daughter in NYC (pictured). She’s presently a senior at George Washington University. She spent nearly every childhood summer in Winnetka enjoying family time with my parents and cousins. We’d drive past North Shore and I’d never fail to tell her stories of my school days. Many summer evenings we’d head to NSCDS and run around on the playing fields. A flood of memories would rush back as if I was playing field hockey again, or running the bases at a softball game. I’m still running those bases and I can still hear my coaches and teachers shouting their encouragement…good thing I can’t hear them asking about my homework anymore!“
“I was so happy to attend our 45th (how did that happen) reunion. The Friday night cocktail reception was a great start seeing classmates, friends and teachers. Our class gathering at Linda Salisbury’s home was amazing. Reconnecting with classmates I hadn’t seen in 45 years was so special and we all agreed that we need to stay connected more regularly. Looking forward to more gatherings in the near future and for our 50th!”
