What Are You Doing Now?

After graduating from SMU, I moved to New York City to work in the influencer marketing industry. I help lead SeatGeek’s TikTok, Instagram and YouTube campaigns, working with some of today’s biggest influencers and celebrities, including Alix Earle, Jake Shane and Travis Kelce. This year, I took the lead on SeatGeek’s biggest campaign — Coachella, also known as the “Influencer Olympics.” I was responsible for coordinating every detail for more than 100 influencers, making it one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences of my career so far. I’ve also been growing my own social media presence by sharing snippets of life in NYC — mostly conversations with my doorman through my intercom and documenting all the fun and whimsical experiences the city has to offer.

NSCD Experience

What was your most memorable Morning Ex?

In seventh grade, I took the dance class, and my friend Brooke Avedisian ’20 and I performed a routine to “Shut Up and Dance With Me” during Morning Ex. We were both very inexperienced dancers, but the experience helped build our confidence and showed us the value of stepping outside our comfort zones.

What was your favorite NSCD tradition?

Senior buddies! 

What was your favorite Interim experience?

My senior year I did the California road trip led by the Aistons.

What part of your NSCD experience has stayed with you?

The connections I made with my friends are what have stayed with me the most. We still plan trips together and celebrate each other’s biggest moments. I truly feel like they’ll be my people forever.

Who were your most influential teachers?

Dana Specht was without a doubt the teacher who left the biggest impression on me. She truly shaped my NSCD experience for the better, and I wouldn’t be the person I am today without her guidance and support during such formative years. Additionally, Joan Ryder was a huge support system for me during high school, and we still remain in contact today! 

What do you miss most about NSCD?

I miss the sense of community and the connections I built there most of all. I loved playing three seasons of sports and forming friendships with people across different grades and with the coaches.

Life After NSCD

Share a favorite experience or story

After NSCD, I took a gap year before starting college, and it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. During that year, I lived in three countries (Croatia, South Africa and Uganda), visited four states, earned my professional scuba diving license while living and working in Hawaii (with Brooke) and spent time volunteering. I truly couldn’t recommend taking a gap year more.

What advice would you give current seniors?

Don’t take college rejections too seriously. Everything has a way of working out the way it’s meant to. I definitely struggled with the rejections at the time, but I ended up at a school that was perfect for me — even if it wasn’t my first choice, or my second or even my third. Looking back, I wouldn’t change a thing. Also, TAKE A GAP YEAR!!!!
