Lower School Assistant Teacher Openings
North Shore Country Day School, a JK-12 independent school near Chicago, seeks one or more full-time Lower School Assistant Teachers for the 2019-20 Academic Year. Each new staff member will be assigned to either the 1st and 2nd Grade classes, the 3rd and 4th Grade classes, or the 5th Grade Classes.
Candidates should be at the start of their teaching career and have a desire to support, work collaboratively with and be mentored by experienced educators. Additionally, we seek candidates who have a demonstrable passion for the development of Lower School age students as individuals and learners. A bachelor’s degree is required. North Shore is eager to consider applications from groups traditionally underrepresented in independent school communities.
The role will include assisting in both homerooms (instructional areas include literacy, mathematics, and social studies as well as the social/emotional curriculum) and supporting the work of the lead teachers and the broader school through other duties such as covering recess and lunch duties, coaching, and advising a co-curricular program.
North Shore offers competitive salaries that are commensurate with experience. Additionally, North Shore provides an excellent employee benefits program, including health and retirement benefits, tuition support for children’s attendance at North Shore, and professional development funding to support summer study, attendance at conferences/workshops, travel, and advanced degree work. For more information about North Shore Country Day School and the opportunities available for members of our faculty, please go towww.nscds.org/careers.
Candidates are asked to submit a cover letter specific to the role at North Shore Country Day School, a resume, a written statement detailing their philosophy/approach to their work, and a listing of professional references (it is helpful to know the context in which the reference worked with the candidate and have both email and phone contact information for each reference). All information should be submitted electronically to firstname.lastname@example.org
