Individuals who include North Shore Country Day in their estate plans are recognized as members of the Heritage Society. This group reflects a shared commitment to the future of NSCD. Members are recognized in the Annual Report and invited to an annual donor gathering.

Ways to Make a Planned Gift

Planned giving can take many forms. Each option offers a flexible way to support NSCD’s mission in a way that fits your personal and financial plans.

Gift in Your Will or Living Trust (Bequest)

A bequest is one of the simplest and most flexible ways to make a lasting impact at NSCD.

You may choose to leave:

A specific dollar amount
A percentage of your estate
The remainder of your estate after other commitments are fulfilled

Gifts can be directed to a specific program or designated for the school’s greatest needs. Because bequests are made through your estate plan, they can be updated at any time and do not affect your assets during your lifetime.

Retirement Plan Assets

Retirement accounts such as IRAs, 401(k)s and 403(b)s can be among the most impactful and tax-efficient assets to give.

You may name NSCD as a full or partial beneficiary of your retirement plan so that remaining assets transfer to the school after your lifetime. Simply ask your fund custodian for a beneficiary form and designate North Shore Country Day.

Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs)
If you are age-eligible, you may also make a direct gift from your IRA during your lifetime:

Up to $111,000 annually per individual or $222,000 for married couples filing jointly. (subject to IRS rules)
May count toward required minimum distributions (RMDs)
Excluded from taxable income

This option allows you to support NSCD now while potentially reducing your tax burden.

Gifts Through Financial Accounts

Many donors choose to support NSCD by naming the school as a beneficiary of financial assets such as life insurance policies or donor-advised funds.

Life Insurance
You may:

Name NSCD as a full or partial beneficiary of an existing policy
Transfer ownership of a policy to NSCD
Make ongoing premium payments as charitable contributions (if applicable)

Life insurance can be a simple and flexible way to make a meaningful future gift.

Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs)
You may recommend a grant to NSCD during your lifetime or name the school as a successor beneficiary of your fund.
If NSCD is not named, remaining funds may be distributed according to the sponsoring organization’s default policy, which may not reflect your intentions.
